I have hit a brick wall with any information about my ancestry from England. I have a very common name. I’m planning a trip to England next year. To see if I can find information. Maybe cemetaries, Or where they may have lived? Maybe if I’m lucky I will find family? Does anyone have suggestions where to start looking? The only thing I have to go on is my great grandparents were married in a church in Handsworth in the county of Stafford. I have their marriage license but only shows fathers name on grandmothers side.

I am fascinated with where people came from and how they are today. I love looking at one person with blonde hair and blue eyes and then another person with brown hair and brown eyes and figuring out where they came from, their heritage, and the science behind why people look the way they do.
I find it so interesting that certain ethnic groups (such as African, Irish, Asian…) have different physical appearances and features. I don’t know if this is what the study of genealogy is, but from my research I think it is. I’m more interested in where peoples’ ancestors came from centuries ago, and how it influences the person living in the 21st century. Just why everybody looks the way they do, I guess. Please, if anyone has any insight on what this field is called, if it isn’t genealogy and there is one, and/or suggestions on how to pursue it. I am of college age, so that is why I am so determined to find out what my interest is called. Thanks!
